Experience
I graduated from Wayne State University with a bachelor's degree and later a master's degree in Mathematics Education. I taught mathematics for 39 years at several Detroit-area high schools, most recently Henry Ford High School, until my retirement. My extensive education experience naturally instilled a great joy of working with students on an individual basis and guiding them toward success. For just about 20 years I was the mathematics tutor at Grosse Pointe Learning Center in Michigan. During that tenure, I tutored students in Algebra, Geometry, and Trigonometry. I also mentored students in preparing and taking standardized tests. Of all the subjects I have been involved with, I am especially strong tutoring students in algebra coursework, showing them the puzzle-like processes to solve an equation and showing them the keys to doing so successfully. Another of my strengths is the patience to direct students in the learning of material at a pace that matches their learning styles. Only when I am comfortable with their understanding can we move ahead. I take great pride in my students' full comprehension of subject matter. Away from teaching, I enjoy a wide variety of music, movies, and watching quiz shows, TV adventures and dramas, and sports.
