I have a bachelor's degree in Sociology and Psychology from Johns Hopkins University. I also attended CUNY Hunter College. After graduation, I had planned to work as a counselor, but decided to first gain some classroom experience. I worked with Blue Engine in New York City for two years as a teaching assistant in Algebra and Geometry. As a New York City Teaching Fellow, I then taught Algebra and Geometry for two more years. I am New York State certified in Special Education and Michigan certified in School Counseling.My philosophy is that the right support enables every student to learn and to be academically successful. A number of my coworkers and supervisors have observed that I show determination and considerable patience while I am teaching, and that I have the ability to calm students.I tutor students in several math courses, including Algebra, Pre-Algebra, Geometry, and Middle School Math.I am originally from Baltimore, Maryland. In addition to teaching, I enjoy crocheting, roller skating, reading, and traveling.
